1. What curriculum is offered by the school?
  • We offer the highest quality international education, based on the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, plus the SEK Future Learning model which extends beyond the IB.
  • We are in the authorisation process for the IB Primary Years Programme* and a candidate school for MYP Programme.
  • Our curriculum prepares students for entrance to the most prestigious universities across the world, including the best universities in the Middle East.
  • We have started the process of gaining accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, which will allow us to offer a US High School Diploma to all Grade 12 graduating students in the future. This will also facilitate entrance to many universities, and most especially, US universities.

  1. Is the school registered in Saudi Arabia?
  • SEK-Riyadh is a fully registered international school with the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education.
  • SEK-Riyadh is proud to be the first school to open as part of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City International Schools Attraction Programme, and to contribute to the educational Vision 2030 for Saudi Arabia.

 

  1. Will the school teach Arabic and Islamic classes?
  • Our curriculum enables us to meet all the requirements of the KSA curriculum, including Arabic and Islamic Studies, taught by Saudi Arabian qualified teachers.

 

  1. What are the school fees?
  • Our fees can be downloaded from our school website: SEK-Riyadh admissions and fees.
  • We are currently offering a 5% discount for the third child and a 5% discount if the yearly fees are paid in advance.

 

  1. What are the nationalities of the teachers?
  • SEK believes in a strong multi-lingual approach to learning. Our main language of teaching is English. Our teachers are well-qualified, internationally experienced, fluent English-speaking teachers from a diversity of countries.
  • We will also teach Arabic and Spanish to all students. Our Arabic teachers are from Saudi Arabia and our Spanish teachers are from Spain.
  • This rich diversity adds to our ability to nurture multilingualism, international mindedness, intercultural understanding and global citizenship, all of which are key elements of the SEK-Riyadh education model.

 

  1. Will the school open upper grades in coming years?
  • Our school will grow with our students, and we will open new grades in the coming years based upon demand.
  • As a minimum, we will always add the grades to allow all current students to continue their education at SEK-Riyadh until they graduate from Grade 12.

 

  1. What is the daily schedule?
  • Our school day is from 7:30 am to 2:15 pm on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • On Tuesday the school day is 7.30 am to 12.45 pm.

 

  1. Does the school offer extra-curricular activities?
  • As part of the SEK commitment to develop the unique passions, talents and competencies of our students, and as part of our holistic approach to the intellectual, social and physical development of students, we offer a diverse range of activities.
  • Sports, the Arts, Technology and Community Service are an essential aspect of our education model, and also play a key role in the health and wellbeing of our students. Our activities cover all these areas, plus other academic support areas, such as mathematics and languages.
  • We offer extra-curricular activities four days a week, immediately after the end of the school day, with a broad range of internal and external choices that will change each term.

 

  1. Does the school offer transportation?
  • We plan to offer bus transportation for students from several locations across Riyadh.

 

  1. Does the school offer lunch?

Families will have two options for lunch, both of which will be supervised by our staff:

  • Students can bring their own lunch.
  • Students can take advantage of the cafeteria service, which will allow for advance ordering of lunch.

We strongly believe in healthy eating for optimum learning, therefore will monitor closely the meals provided by our cafeteria service, and also lunches brought from home.

 

  1. Are boys and girls going to be studying together?
  • The school is mixed gender until 6th Grade, and we will have male and female teachers.

  • The school is conveniently located in the Al Rabie district, in central Riyadh close to the Kingdom Hospital, with excellent travel connections via the King Salman and King Fahad highways.
