On Exhibition Day, our Grade 5 students truly impressed the entire SEK International School Riyadh community. With confidence, knowledge, and professionalism, they presented their projects to parents, teachers, school leaders, and fellow students, showcasing not only what they had learned, but also how much they had grown throughout the journey. They confidently led discussions, answered questions, shared their research, and truly ran the exhibition like professionals.
As our Grade 5 students reached the final stages of their PYP Exhibition journey, it became clear that this experience was about far more than the final presentation day. The PYP Exhibition at SEK International School Riyadh represented months of inquiry, collaboration, reflection, innovation, and personal growth — a meaningful milestone that brought together all the skills, knowledge, and attitudes students have developed throughout their Primary Years Programme journey.
Throughout the exhibition process, students explored real-world issues connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), selecting topics they felt passionate about and wanted to make a difference in. From the very beginning, students engaged in all phases of the inquiry cycle: tuning in to global and local issues, developing central ideas and lines of inquiry, conducting in-depth research, reflecting on findings, and taking meaningful action.
The journey challenged students to think critically, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively. They learned how to listen to different perspectives, solve conflicts, organize responsibilities, and agree on common goals within their teams. Through research using books, articles, interviews, surveys, mentor meetings, videos, and discussions with experts, students developed strong inquiry and research skills while deepening their understanding of their chosen topics.
Students also attended workshops with the IT department to explore how technology and artificial intelligence could support their inquiry journey. Using the Makerspace and a variety of creative tools, students designed innovative solutions aimed at helping both their school community and the wider world. Many projects connected directly to Saudi Arabia and explored ways to create positive and sustainable change through action and innovation.
One of the most inspiring aspects of the journey was watching students transform simple ideas into meaningful and impactful projects. Their exhibition boards gradually evolved into powerful displays filled with creativity, reflection, evidence of learning, infographics, and innovative designs that told the story of their growth and dedication.
