The SEK Education Group has held a new edition of SEK Day, a celebration dedicated to recognizing the excellence, educational innovation, and commitment of its teachers, students, and professionals to the values that inspire the SEK learning community. In addition, 34 members of the SEK and UCJC educational community were honored for their 25 years at the institution and for those who retired during the past academic year.
During the event, chaired by Nieves Segovia, President of SEK Education Group, awards were presented to the best educational practices and positive-impact projects developed across the SEK International Schools and Camilo José Cela University (UCJC).
SEK Education Group Awards
As part of the SEK Education Group Awards, the Felipe Segovia Foundation recognized the best educational and management practices developed across the SEK International Schools during the 2024/25 academic year. These awards highlight the creativity, pedagogical innovation, and social commitment of the teachers and teams that form part of the SEK community.

UCJC 2025 Awards: Entrepreneurship, Sustainability and Wellbeing
The UCJC 2025 Awards jury recognized the most innovative projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The awardees were:

Entrepreneurship and Innovation Award: “Design Thinking para la acción: aprendizaje experiencial y emprendimiento creativo en la UCJC” (Design Thinking for Action: Experiential Learning and Creative Entrepreneurship at UCJC), by Cristina Montes.

Sustainability Award: “Erasmus+ 3C’s (Cycling, Campus & City)”, coordinated by Marta Serrano Pérez and Mercedes Llop Pomares.

Wellbeing Award: “Snacks de ejercicio para la salud” (Exercise Snacks for Health), by María Perales Santaella.

Felipe Segovia Award for SEK Student of the Year
The 2025 Felipe Segovia Award for SEK Student of the Year was granted to Gara Rodríguez Hernández, a student at SEK-Ciudalcampo, who will pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme with a full scholarship.
This award recognizes the personal and academic qualities that embody the SEK learner profile, inspired by the educational vision of Felipe Segovia, founder of the SEK Education Group.
Positive Impact Awards
In the 3rd edition of the Positive Impact Undergraduate and Master’s Thesis Awards, UCJC honored two students whose projects stand out for their contribution to society and sustainability:

Best Undergraduate Thesis (TFG): Jone Cengotitabengoa, for “Gamification as the Core of a Communication Plan Aimed at Young Audiences.”

Best Master’s Thesis (TFM): Jessica Flórez, for “Let’s Biocycle.”
In addition, the 1st edition of the Positive Impact Awards for Best Personal Project and Best Monograph at SEK International Schools recognized:

Julia Benito, from SEK-Atlántico, for her project “Sustainable Innovation in Viticulture: The Use of Nettle as a Natural Fungicide Against Botrytis cinerea.”

Raquel Picazo, from SEK-Ciudalcampo, for her monograph “Peace or the Absence of Violence: The United Nations’ Intervention in Yemen’s Governmental Transition.”
With these recognitions, SEK Day 2025 reaffirms SEK Education Group’s commitment to educational excellence, social transformation, and the development of global citizens capable of facing the challenges of the 21st century with responsibility and creativity.
